Barr Opens Criminal Investigation of DOJ Investigation of Russian Interference in 2016 Election
The Department of Justice upgraded the administrative review of DOJ’s probe of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, into a criminal investigation. The review was being conducted by prosecutor prosecutor John Durham, but has been closely overseen by Attorney General William Barr. He has been traveling the world trying to get foreign governments to buy into the right-wing conspiracy theory that Russia did not interfere in the 2016 election. The change was first reported by the New York Times and was later confirmed by Reuters and NBC News.
Barr won’t investigate an obvious case of public corruption, extortion, bribery and criminal campaign finance violations, but he will criminally investigate debunked conspiracy theories of anyone who has tried to hold Trump or Putin accountable for their attacks on US democracy. I guess we haven’t seen Barr recently because he’s been looking for the 5 million illegal voters, trying to find Comet’s basement, searching Bowling Green for signs of a massacre, in Hawaii looking for Obama’s birth certificate and scouring Russia for the uranium HRC sold them.
